On January, 18th, inhabitants of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad region celebrate the memorable date – 71st anniversary of Leningrad blockage breaking.
To memorialize the terrible days of the blockage the best specialists of Nevsky Shipyard took part in reconstruction of tanks lifted from the bottom of the river Neva near Nevsky “pyatachok”.
The workers of the workshop № 2 restored tank undercarriage, derusted the armour and painted the hull. Nowadays, renovated tanks, which have been participated in the fight for Leningrad liberation, are placed at the observation area of the museum reserve “The breaking of Leningrad blockage”.
On the initiative of Schliesselburg government executive, Mr. Dmitrii Vasilenko, Shipyard specialists renovated multibarrelled guns of the cruiser “Kirov” and more light deck guns from other naval ships thanks to which sailors repelled raids of enemy aviation. At the moment the guns are installed at the central park of the town of river transport workers.
In 2007 another unique object – tank «KV-1» was added to the museum military weaponry exhibition after difficult process of restoration at Nevsky Shipyard.
