The launching ceremony of the self-propelled car and passenger ferry «Arkady Filatov» for crossing the river Svir in urban-type settlement Voznesenye of Podporozhsky district in Leningrad region, project 2967/3132, took place in Nevsky Shipyard’s slipway on May 15th 2015.

The construction of the vessel is being carried out in accordance with the Contract signed with Automobile road department of Leningrad region in last August. The project is developed by Engineering Centre of Shipbuilding, JSC.

Arkady Filatov

Arkady Filatov was born on May 24^th, 1912 in Barnaul of the Altai Territory. In 1938 he graduated Leningrad automobile and road building Institute, the speciality “roads constructing engineer”. From 1937 to 1954 Arkady Filatov served in the Soviet Army and in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and he held engineering and technical positions. Arkady Filatov saw the Great Patriotic War. He served in road battalion providing the work of the Road of Life.

Arkady Filatov worked in automobile road sphere. From May 1960 he held the position of the chief engineer in automobile roads building and repair Department of the Executive Committee of the Leningrad region. From 1967 to 1976 Arkady Filatov was the head of regional department of Committee for road facilities of Leningrad region. He directly participated in arrangement of  powered ferry crossing  the river Svir in settlement Voznesenye of Podporozhsky district in Leningrad region on automobile road Petrozavodsk-Oshta.

Arkady Filatov was awarded the order of the Red Banner of Labour and a number of medals. He is the honorary road worker of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and Honored builder of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic.
