According to the Morspassluzhba of Rosmorrechflot, the multipurpose rescue vessel (MRV) with the capacity of 4 MW “Spasatel Demidov” of the MPSV07 project coordinates a search and rescue operation in the region of the crash of the dry cargo vessel “Heroes of Arsenal”.
On April 19, 2017 at 03:40, the captain of the MRV project MPSV07 “Spasatel Demidov” received information from the MRCC of Kerch Sea Port about the distress signal from the ship "Heroes of Arsenal" in the Black Sea (14 miles south of the Kerch Strait) and the instruction to follow the disaster area for search and rescue operations.
MRV of the MPSV07 project “Spasatel Demidov” in accordance with the schedule approved by Rosmorrechflot carried emergency rescue operations in the Kerch Strait.
After receiving the instructions MRV immediately weighed anchor and followed to the accident area. On April 19, 2017 at 06.10 MRV “Spasatel Demidov” arrived at the search area and by the order of the MRCC Novorossiysk began coordinating actions of the search and rescue operation, in which 12 vessels participate.
“Spasatel Demidov” – is unique in its equipment and technical possibilities multifunction rescue vessel of ice navigation, built in 2015 by Nevsky Shipyard. The construction of the vessel was carried out in accordance with State Contract for the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency and for the Direction of State Contractor of Marine Transport Development Program for Morspassluzhba Rosmorrechflot.
