The construction of the vessel is carried out in accordance with the state contract for the Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation. The project was developed by CJSC "Spetssudoproekt".
The mooring trials are continuing at present time. Preparation for commissioning works of the unique underway replenishment system on the go.
Purposes of the vessel:
• Receiving, storing, transporting and transferring of liquid cargoes (diesel fuel, fuel oil, aviation kerosene, motor oil, water) with the help of the system of traverse and wake transfer of cargo at sea;
• Receiving, storing, transporting and transferring of dry cargoes (food, skipper's and technical equipment) with the help of a traverse transfer system of cargo at sea, as well as using a site for transferring cargo on the external suspension of the helicopter;
• liquidation of oil and oil product spills. The vessel is intended for transportation of petroleum products without restriction on flash temperature.
A special feature of the vessel is its increased design life, namely: the thickness of the hull and the ship's pipelines are calculated on the basis of a 40-year service life.
The cargo system is designed for the simultaneous transportation of five types of cargo.
The tanker is named in honor of the outstanding Russian shipbuilding engineer, Hero of the Russian Federation, academician of Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Pashin, who headed the Central Scientific Research Institute named after A. Krylov for more than 20 years.
