January 18th, 2009 – the 66th anniversary of Leningrad blockade breaking.
And again as well as 2 years before, on January 2007, and a little more than year ago, on September, 2007, today, at the 18th of January 2009, the date of 66th anniversary of Leningrad blockade the unique object – tank «KV-1» was installed at military hardware exhibit of Museum-diorama of Leningrad blockade breach after long and difficult process of reconstruction.
On October 16th, 2007 this tank was raised from the bottom of the river Neva and delivered for restoration to Nevsky Shipyard, Shliesselburg. As its predecessors the tank was reconstructed by the members of museum and Shipyard staff.
There is one tank of this type «KV-1» - «Klim Voroshilov» in museum since 2003. But that tank didn’t manage to take part in the fight at Nevsky Pyatachok because it went down at passage through the river. Uniqueness of tank which was added to exposition now is the fact that it was one of twenty tanks took part in massive tank attack at 30th of November 1941. Tank was punctured and when passed over the river to the right bank for repair it got under the bombardment and went down.
Installation of tank was dated to solemn meeting dedicated to 66th anniversary of blockade breaking which was held at the military hardware exhibit in front of the memorial complex «Leningrad blockade breaking », situated at the left bank of river Neva near the Ladogsky bridge.
