The flag was raised on the vessel "Marshal Rokossovsky"
The Russian flag was raised on the vessel built at Nevsky Shipyard (part of the USC, is the base enterprise of the Leningrad regional branch of Russian Engineering Union), in cooperation with Kuzey Star Shipyard. Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony. On March 04, 2022, a flag-raising ceremony was held on the new dual-fuel ferry Marshal Rokossovsky. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony via video link.
“The national flag has been raised on a new car-railway ferry. It is named after our great commander, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokossovsky. Today this modern ship will go to the Kaliningrad region, carrying everyday goods for residents, products for construction and other important sectors of the region's economy. In total, the volume of cargo transportation on the Ust-Luga Baltiysk line will increase by more than one and a half times - up to 2 million tons annually, and the new ferry will be able to go to sea even in difficult weather conditions, and in winter without icebreaker escort. The presence of sea transport of this class will allow us to guarantee a permanent, reliable connection of the western outpost of Russia with the whole country, which means that in any development of events, we will provide decent living conditions for people, opportunities for further strengthening the industrial, social, and tourist infrastructure of the Kaliningrad region, for uninterrupted supply of products and sustainable operation of companies and enterprises in the region. I want to thank everyone who took part in such an important transport project for our country for the work.” the President said.
It is expected that on Friday the first wagons will be delivered to the ferry, after that the ferry starts operating on the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk line, which is strategically important for Russia.
